Biopsychology Flashcards - AQA Psychology
Describe the Nervous System and its sub-systems.
The Nervous System is the body’s primary internal communication system, made up of cells. It responds to environmental stimuli and co-ordinates the work of the body’s various organs and cells. It has two sub-systems: the central nervous system (CNS), consisting of the brain and spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous system (PNS), which transmits messages to and from the CNS. The PNS can be further divided into the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and the somatic nervous system (SNS).
